RegisterRocky Mountain Equipment (RME) firmly believes that investing in our communities is essential, which is why we are committed to giving back and improving where we work and live. Over the years, RME has championed various community groups, businesses, events and organizations in and around Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The company has had a recording-setting year for it’s Community Investment program—reaching farther than we ever have by investing in over 125 causes in 2018 and donating upwards of $250,000. RME employees are empowered to act as ambassadors in our communities to provide local support, and work collectively to focus our energies on three main points of giving—agriculture and construction advocacy, safety and youth development—to make an impact near our 37 RME branches. There’s been several stories that stick out to us at RME this year, and we want to highlight a few from each of our key investment areas.
AGRICULTURE AND CONSTRUCTION
Nothing brings together a community like a local rodeo—it is a gathering place showcasing community spirit and western heritage, all while supporting organizations and individuals who make a living in the agriculture industry.
We have sponsored various local agricultural fairs and rodeos in 2018, like RME Steinbach Branch’s Quinton Blair Community Ranch Rodeo in early September. “Local rodeos like this one are different from a normal rodeo you see on TV, these are based on what ranchers used to do in the pastures like, wild cow milking, steer doctoring, and branding. They remind us of our roots,” said Travis Froese, RME Sales Consultant, Ag Equipment. Beyond rodeos and outdoor events, RME furthers its outreach in the community by sponsoring agricultural societies, recreation centres, pools, arenas, and food banks to enhance rural life.
YOUTH
RME contributes to the next generation of agricultural leaders by providing them opportunities to build leadership skills and supporting the activities they are involved in. RME sponsors sports teams with supplies and equipment, sends youth to industry summits, and grants scholarships focused on advancing agriculture, technology or construction.
This year alone, we have helped over 40 youth-related initiatives by giving them the funding needed to advance their future, gain experience and make a positive impact on their community, just like the 13 members of the Strathmore Venom Lacrosse team who benefited from RME’s Community Investment program and were proud to show it off!
SAFETY
When the Progressive Agricultural Foundation reached out to RME, they were seeking for support for an upcoming Safety Days event. RME jumped on an opportunity to give grade 5 and 6 students in Boissevain, Manitoba an extra special day filled with learning and gift bags to take home. The organization works to provide education, training and resources to make farm, ranch and rural life safer and healthier for children and their communities.
This year and every year, RME gives back to farm safety organizations, health and wellness groups, fire departments, as well as emergency response teams who create educational tools and programs to help ag producers and their families improve their health and safety both on and off the farm. Select RME value-driven initiatives like these from 2018, aid our overall purpose to strengthen and grow RME communities and networks. We will continue to grow as an organization and go the extra mile to be a dependable partner. Find more
