Located East of Edmonton, AB, Randy Lamash’s farm has called Vegreville home for the past three generations. Wheat, barley, and canola come together to form the 3500-acre operation run by Randy, his oldest son Brandon, and the farm hands.

Starting with just a couple of quarters, Randy’s Grandfather started the farm when he moved to Canada from the Ukraine. When Randy’s father took over, the farm was running at 500 acres with a combination of cattle and grain. When it was Randy’s turn to take over, he opted to move out of the cattle industry and strictly farm grain.

“I got out of livestock when I got married 21 years ago. I kind of miss the cows but they’re very demanding and between BSE and everything else, it was too disheartening to continue so I moved out of it and have never looked back,” said Randy.

Randy and his wife Jocelyn currently run the farm with 20-year-old Brandon currently renting a quarter section to farm his own crop. The couples three other children – 16-year-old Taylor, 13-year-old Evan, and 9-year-old Jordyn – lend a helping hand whenever they can.

The Lamash family have been long-time users of Case IH equipment starting with Randy’s father who liked the older series white-cabbed tractors and continued with Randy who purchased his first 8120 combine from RME in 2010 and has been a customer ever since.

Since 2010, Randy has added a couple of more pieces of equipment to his fleet which includes land rollers, rock diggers, a Case IH 620Q, a Case IH 4440 sprayer, a Case IH 8230 and a Case IH 9240 combine, a Case IH 280 Maxxum, a Bourgault 3320 Air Drill, a Brent 1100 bushel grain cart, and some straight cut headers. A few years ago, Randy traded his Case IH 500W for his first Quadtrac.

“I’m very happy with the equipment. It’s very user-friendly, anyone can drive them, any one can learn them. I just bought the Quadtrac in 2018 and it’s a beautiful tractor; pulls hard, runs smooth, it’s a night and day difference from the wheeled tractors.”

Working closely with Ag Equipment Sales Consultant Cody Weleschuk and the RME Service department when things break down, Randy says he enjoys working with the company.

“Cody treats me well, he does a little bit of cattle and hay himself, so he knows what the industry is all about. He’s good to deal with, he tries to work with the guys as much as possible without being a nuisance. He’s great!”

While things can get a little bit tense in the fields, Randy says the service team takes it all in stride.

“There are always breakdowns, unfortunately, but RME has done very well with service. I don’t have to wait too long, the people are good to work with, and the techs are very well-mannered and polite.”

Sometimes, it isn’t just the mechanical part of the tractor that needs some work; it’s the technology side that has a break down. Ag Optimization and Technology Specialist Roy Kassian ensures the job gets done right so Randy can continue on with his field work.

“The AOS specialist is very well-experienced and if he is unable to make it out, he has the knowledge to guide you over the phone. AOS is great,” said Randy.

RME takes pride in being able to keep great customers like Randy out in the fields with his equipment running at its most optimal. By doing Right By Randy Lamash, RME Vegreville helps to ensure each growing and harvest season is as successful as possible.
