East of Standard, AB, lies a farm that is ripe with history and has been operating in Alberta for over a century. Originally homesteaded in 1914, Parflesh Farms is still going strong, even after celebrating their 100-year anniversary back in 2014.

Run by fourth generation farmer Craig Christensen and his crew, the farm boasts 11,500 acres of wheat, malt barley, canola, and peas.

“We have a set rotation for our crops for good agronomy,” said Craig.

The farm, named after Parflesh creek, has not had any livestock since the 1960’s when Craig’s grandfather was running the farm. Once his father took over, they moved out of the livestock industry and focused solely on grain.

Along with the large amount of land, Parflesh Farms owns a sea of ‘red’ to ensure they get the job done every season.

“We have two Case IH Quadtracs, four 8250 Case IH Combines, a 4450 Case IH Patriot Sprayer, two Bourgault drills, and MacDon headers.”

When it comes to working with the crew in RME Drumheller, Craig said it is the quality of work and the trust that are most important.

“The Service guys are unreal. They do everything they can to help you out if you break down in the field,” said Craig. “We’ve had guys out here during harvest at four or five in the morning trying to fix the combines and they won’t leave until they get the job done.”

RME is proud to be able to provide such fine service to a farm that is so important to Alberta’s history. With RME Drumheller doing  and keeping their equipment running top notch, we are happy knowing Craig and his crew can get the job done every year.
